EXHIBITION, TALK, PANEL

Scandinavia House invites you to a captivating weekend in September dedicated to contemporary textile art. Guests are invited to immerse themselves in a vibrant program featuring an Artist Talk and panel discussion with Nordic textile artists on Saturday, followed by a collective textile workshop and performance on Sunday. The gallery at Scandinavia House will showcase an exhibition throughout the weekend, highlighting the diverse techniques and expressions of Nordic textile artists.

Experience the works of Nordic artists who will be participating in the event, offering workshops and showcasing their creations over the course of two days. In addition, two esteemed Swedish schools, the University of Gothenburg’s HDK-Valand and Boras Swedish School of Textiles, will present works by their talented graduates, further enriching the exhibition.

Textile Takeover aims to cultivate artistic collaborations in textiles between the Nordic countries and the USA, with a series of public events planned for 2024 and 2025 at Scandinavia House in New York. These events will feature artist talks, workshops, and exhibitions centered around different themes in textile craft, encouraging dialogue and exploration between artists from the Nordic region and the USA.

This initiative is presented in collaboration with New York Textile Month, underscoring our commitment to celebrating textile artistry on a global stage. Join us as we embark on this exciting journey of cultural exchange and creative exploration at Scandinavia House.
